Description
Leszy (Leshen/Leshiye) is the tutelary spirit of the woodlands in slavic folklore. Leszy is masculine and humanoid in shape, and able to assume any likeness (bear, fox, stag, wolf or owl). He lives in deep, inaccessible areas of forests. It was easy to anger him by doing any harm to the woods (like cuting the holly trees). If a hunter wanted a safe hunting, he had to made an offering. Leszy, depends of that human attitude to the nature, could lead the traveller astray or help him find a last path, made wild animals attack him or save form them.
In Witcher 3, he's is described as a forest-dwelling, iron-resistant, highly intelligent monster. For unknown reasons, many peasants consider him to be a spirit that protects the forest. In reality, it is a very dangerous creature that hunts woodland creatures and lone wanderers. It mostly lurks among the tree branches, from which it quickly jumps on its victims. It usually devours the whole prey.
